11t1’s Final Blowout Clearance Sale

» Be this the end of the 11t1 project? (Short answer: Yes!) «
Time for a change, methinks
They say a change is as good as a rest, so maybe a change after a rest will be twice as good.

There’s only two days left to cast a vote in the final Masters of Song Fu Challenge. The field has been narrowed to two contenders: Jonathon Coulton and Jeff MacDougal.

Here’s a little something I did over a weekend in June, 2006. A German film student approached me on a Thursday evening requiring a score for a four minute silent short he was submitting to a panel the following Monday. I foolishly accepted, downloaded the video file on Friday morning, and by Sunday night we had a finished product.

Last Wednesday at the highly ungodly hour of 5:30 in the morning, I got a call from Kevin Forget, producer of CityTV’s Breakfast Television (BT). Since I was scheduled to be on the show that morning, I feared he was calling at the last minute possible to cancel.

Yesterday I was invited down to the Toronto studios of CityTV (299 Queen Street West) for the live broadcast of the city’s number 1 morning show, Breakfast Television, affectionately known as BT by its fans.

Here’s some more discoveries from my back-up discs. I uncovered these tunes from a disc I had prepared for my last 11t1 show back in March of 2006. Of all the none-LP tracks I had prepared for the show, these were the only two not riddled with copyrighted material.

I’ve had this burning ambition for a while to record a few pop songs. When I say a while, I guess I mean a couple of decades.
Anyway, I’ve put together a few scraps over the last few years whenever I could catch a break from diaper duty, and I think I can safely say I’ve got the bed tracks for two songs ready to head into the studio. Listen below:

For some reason, I have this brain that creates music whether I want it to or not. Sometimes it’s a gift, sometimes it’s downright maddening. Oh well, whatchya gonna do?
A few weeks ago, I was sitting in front of my TV wolfing down breakfast watching Breakfast Television (BT) on CityTV (Toronto) when one of the hosts (Kevin Frankish) mentions that their segment “Ask Kevin and Dina” could really use some theme music. I start thinking to myself that I should write them a little jingle.

Here’s a little something I did up a couple of years ago under the moniker 11t1. I was originally under contract to put it out through a London-based start-up label that ultimately failed to launch. I put it up on iTunes & Napster for a while, but without label support my sales were barely covering my TuneCore hosting costs.
So, I’ve decided to give it all away on my site for free. Take it if you want it. I hope you enjoy it. You can grab it track by track or take the whole thing in one massive zip file.
